The Third General Assembly of the Hazara Diaspora Network

The Third General Assembly of the Hazara Diaspora Network was held on 1–2 August 2026 in Malmö, Sweden, bringing together representatives of member organizations. The assembly focused on the integration and meaningful participation of the Hazara diaspora in their host societies.

During the meeting, participants discussed the opportunities and challenges facing Hazara diaspora organizations and communities through working groups on political, cultural, economic, and human rights issues. They emphasized the importance of active participation and effective integration into host societies while preserving their cultural and ethnic identity. The General Assembly also adopted a resolution outlining a number of priorities and recommendations for member organizations to incorporate into their future programs and activities.

Mr. Latif Fayaz, Director of the Hazara Culture House in Finland, attended the General Assembly as the organization’s representative and shared the association’s activities, programs, and achievements with the participants.

The Assembly also featured keynote speeches by Niels Paarup-Petersen of the Centre Party and Morgan Johansson of the Social Democratic Party, Members of the Swedish Parliament, who spoke about the importance of the diaspora’s role in strengthening social cohesion, civic participation, and democratic values.

In addition, Ms. Nasiba Daytabar, a member of the City Council and a candidate for the upcoming Swedish parliamentary elections from the Green Party, shared her motivations and experiences as a young Hazara woman from the migrant community seeking to enter national politics.
