On the evening of January 11, the Tapiola Cultural Center in Espoo hosted a remarkable concert featuring the legendary Afghanistan artist, Dawood Sarkhosh. The event, co-organized by the Hazara Culture House (Suomen Hazaroiden Kulttuuriyhdistys ry) and Galaxy Entertainment, drew a large audience of Afghan music enthusiasts from Finland and across Europe.

One of the most captivating aspects of the concert was Sarkhosh’s engaging storytelling between performances. He introduced each song with its own unique stories that resonated deeply with the audience.
Known not only for his distinctive voice and musical talent, Sarkhosh is also celebrated for the profound stories embedded in his songs, which he eloquently conveyed during the performance.

Throughout the evening, the audience was swept up in the emotion of the music. They danced joyfully to his upbeat melodies and sang along with him, while the more poignant songs evoked tears, reflecting themes of pain, exile, and longing that touched the hearts of all present.

Dawood Sarkhosh received a warm welcome upon his arrival at Helsinki Airport, courtesy of the Hazara Culture House. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the preservation of culture, art, and music, the Hazara Culture House presented him with a priceless gift—a book titled Tisha Ha Wa Risha Ha. This book chronicles the story of Senator Ghulam Hassan Khan, a prominent figure now residing in Finland, further symbolizing the deep cultural ties and appreciation shared between the artist and the community.

The concert concluded on a high note, leaving the audience with a profound sense of connection and admiration for Sarkhosh’s artistry. The event served as a powerful reminder of the unifying power of music and its ability to transcend borders, bringing people together through shared emotions and cultural heritage.

What a memorable event.
